Yeah, they work great if you have a 5v card ;-)

Problem is we're hunting for the exceedingly elusive magic adapter that will handle a 3.3v card without costing twice as much as the PCMCIA card we're trying to put in it. All true CardBus adapters are viable options, but every single true CardBus adapter I've seen costs 2-4 times as much as the equivalent (and essentially no different) non-CardBus version (given that everyone's using PCI->CardBus bridges crippled into PCMCIA-only mode).

In the long run I think the real answer is to relegate the Proxim RangeLAN-DS cards to nothing but laptop client cards, since every modern (most P5's and everything higher) laptop supports CardBus anyway. Which of course defeats the purpose of having found a large number of cheap Prism2 cards.

Besides, the DWL-650H, if it is indeed shipping and doesn't suck, is probably a much better card to be using anyway, and seems to be going for ~$85.
