"iwconfig wlan0 retry..." does not work

Hello,

I am very sorry that I have so many questions in these few days.

Now, with the help of the professionals here, I can successfully set up my laptop computer as an AP. But now, 2 more questions come to me.

(1) when I run "iwconfig wlan0", it returns me with

Warning: Device wlan0 has been compiled with version 12 of Wireless Extension, while we are using version 11.

Some things may be broken ...

Should I do something in order to get rid of this warning?? It seems to me that iwconfig works without any problem inspite of the warning.

(2) when I try to modify the number of retries with iwconfig (iwconfig wlan0 retry 16), it gives me

    SIOCSIWRETRY(95): Operation not supported

What can I do so that I can tune this retry number?? Or nothing that I can do??

Background information:
Redhat 7.2
Kernel 2.4.18 (compile with wireless extension and pcmcia) Prism2 HostAP drivers
Linksys WPC11 wireless LAN card

Thank you very much.
